Welcome to the Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center Web site. As a ministry of the Second Presbyterian Church and of St. Francis in the Fields Church, our mission is first and foremost to serve the emotional and mental health needs of all persons and families in our community, regardless of ability to pay. In its 20-plus year history, the Kilgore Center has never turned away a person needing help because of inability to pay our standard fees.

The Kilgore Center is currently home to seven distinguished and highly skilled counselors and therapists, including a psychologist, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, and pastoral counselors. Should you or your family or loved ones need our services, your journey with the Kilgore Center would begin with a phone call to our front office to schedule an appointment (502-327-4622). Our receptionist would then initiate a brief consultation with our Executive or Clinical Director. You would then be assigned a therapist that would best suit your individual needs and preferences. Of course, if you know one of our therapists and would prefer to work with him or her, we would accommodate that as well.

The Kilgore Center specializes in several areas of mental health, including, treating and healing families, working with adults (couples and individuals), marriage counseling, pastoral and biblical counseling, child and adolescent counseling, working with the elderly, as well as psychological testing, and consultation to local area nursing homes. Another important program at the Kilgore Center is that of Clergy and Congregational Care – specializing in consultation to local ministers and congregations, educational programs, premarital counseling and facilitation of “social capital” within the church community. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Kilgore Center has had in place since its founding, the Samaritan Scholarship Fund Program, which reserves funds received through the generous donations of churches, parishioners, and community members to subsidize fees for those who lack capacity or insurance to pay for the services needed.
